By Ruben Reyes JrThis book was so beautiful. I am really obsessed with the idea of alternate timelines and what-ifs, so of course I understood how some characters were drawn in by the Defractor. I loved being in this world and learning about these lives.

The Gilda Stories (Anniversary, Expanded)
By Jewelle GomezI've been meaning to read this book for a while, because Jewelle Gomez is married to my partner's aunt! So this is the first time I've read a book by someone I know in real life. I was not disappointed - it's imaginative and thought provoking. I like this version of vampirism, I liked the walk through different stages of history, I liked the characters.

Magic for Liars
By Sarah GaileyI love a murder mystery and this book was right up my alley. I wish I could read more books about this detective and this world! I loved the way magic is conceptualized in this story. Or was also the first novel I've read in a while that had me completely wrapped up in the story. It felt good to be so enthralled.
